Taking into consideration that Africa is the only region in the world where formal education, socio-economic development strategies, research and human capital development efforts are promoted through foreign ideologies, languages, and knowledge production methodologies, as well as Africa’s marginal participation in the 4th Industrial Revolution; the AIIKS will initiate the following strategic IKS-Based Signature projects to ensure the systematization of AIKS as a knowledge system contributing to the global knowledge economy in its own right to realize the aspirations of the Africa We Want (AU Agenda 2063).
These strategic projects include:
- IKS-Based Digitalization for the Revisioning of the knowledge Lifecycle; and Africa’s active participation and contribution to the 4th Industrial Revolution
- Promoting Cultural and Economic Diplomacy Through Teaching and Learning African Indigenous Languages Using Other African indigenous Languages. In partnership between AIIKS, private and public sectors, these strategic projects will contribute to the communities social transformation and sustainability by developing unique cultural-linguistic-based digital products and services for the national, continental and international markets.
The implementation of these strategic initiatives will be aligned to the following cross cutting themes: research, innovation and knowledge creation, human capital development, community engagement, communication and marketing, gender mainstreaming, social transformation and sustainability. These are articulated in a Five-Year Sustainability Action Plan (2022-2026) (Appended) with strategic goals, targets and performance indicators building on the rationale, vision, mission, specific objectives and multi-disciplinary focus areas of the Institute.
